Mass Effect 3 will have multiplayer

Speculation as to whether Mass Effect 3 will have multiplayer functionality can finally be put to rest – it’s been confirmed by the man himself, Casey Hudson.

BeefJack has reported on the rumours of multiplayer in ME3 since early June. Now, as reported by Kotaku, an upcoming issue of Australian magazine PC Powerplay will have an interview with Casey Hudson who will explain more about the multiplayer portion of ME3. From a synopsis of the magazine:

“That’s right – Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer! We travel to BioWare’s office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series’ first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy.”

EA has previously stated that it wants to see multiplayer functionality in all of its AAA titles – hopefully ME3′s take on cooperative play will be as rewarding as the single-player experience.

Mass Effect 3 multiplayer – bound to be garbage or will the strength of the gameplay mechanics see it through? Sound off below!

  1. Casey Hudson has said the multiplayer for ME3 will consist of co-op missions. Also it’s not PC Gamer, it’s an Australian PC gaming magazine: PC Powerplay that will have the article.
