A teaser for an upcoming Mass Effect 3 ad entitled ‘Take Earth Back’ features a little girl witnessing the Reapers’ arrival.
Child + videogame = drama. That seems to be the trope these days. Modern Warfare 3 had that vacationing kid being annihilated by a bomb-laden truck and Mass Effect 3 solidifies Shepard’s resolve by having a Reaper kill a small boy right in front of his face. This is something BioWare apparently wishes to emphasise, as a teaser for the upcoming ‘Take Earth Back’ ad illustrates.
As you can see below, the teaser shows a small girl skipping into a meadow, picking up a sunflower with a careless chuckle. Then a shadow silently settles over her. She slowly turns and catches sight of a Reaper soundlessly gliding towards her. Hmph, all that just makes it sound wrong.
Far Cry 3 clearly isn’t the only game that teases its trailers with teaser trailers. The full video will be played this Sunday during The Walking Dead on AMC. Rest assured it’ll be made available on the internet soon after.
