Mark Pincus wants Zynga icon to be “more recognizable than a Nike swoosh”
Yuliya Geikhman April 25, 2012 - 1:50 amNews: Zynga CEO Mark Pincus revealed some high aspirations for the future of the Zynga brand in a recent interview.

You probably know Zynga as the company that makes those impulse-clicking social games on Facebook, but Zynga CEO Mark Pincus wants the company to mean so much more to you. Pincus told USA Today: “I want the dog, our dog icon… to be more recognizable than a Nike swoosh and mean something to you. If you see that on a game,” he continues, “it means it’s social, it means that it’s going to give you back more than what you put into it.”
Although the most likely thing you’ll take away from a Zynga game is carpal tunnel, that’s not what Pincus is referring to: “I’m hoping that we don’t just give you entertainment but we actually enhance the relationships in your life.” Pincus says that Zynga is becoming a way to connect with others, meet new people, and even “a whole new way to date.” Ultimately, Pincus hopes that Zynga can “create one of these forever brands and experiences like Google, that people… look for in their lives.”
Making impressive comparisons is becoming the norm among casual game companies. Just a month ago, Angry Birds creator Rovio expressed an ambition to be “bigger than Disney.” Which raises the question, if Zynga manages to buy Rovio, who will they aspire to overtake?
Whether either succeeds in their endeavors, we’ll be sure to keep you updated right here on BeefJack.
