Maia heads to Kickstarter for funding
James Haresign October 31, 2012 - 1:37 pmNews: Indie God game Maia has started a campaign over on Kickstarter to raise the funds to bring the game to playable Alpha stage.
Simon Roth, having worked on Frozen Synapse and VVVVVV, has turned to Kickstarter to help fund his space colony management simulator Maia. We heard about Maia several months ago, so why the shift to Kickstarter now? Because Roth is shifting development to full time and hopes to have a playable alpha up and running some time in January.
He aims for a grand total of £100,042, a damn sight more manageable that other budgets we’ve seen on Kickstarter of late. If you hurry you can get access to the Alpha, and a copy of the game for as little as £5. Though feel free to throw more money at Maia if it takes your fancy.
The man clearly loves his Douglas Adams, apart from the obvious reference with the Kickstarter goal he’s throws in a couple of references in the description as well. It looks to be a good bit of British sci-fi.

Awesome, but I wish I had money to back it. The game sounds like dungeon keeper in space and with aliens, which is enough for me if it is developed in a user friendly and charming way.
