Magicka sells over 1.3 million copies

Macgicka has sold over 1.3 million copies since releasing last year, releasing new DLC to celebrate.

Despite its broken release last year, Magicka has managed win back its audience and sell over 1.3 million copies. Plus a further 4 million DLC packs.

In celebration of the announcement the developers have announced a new DLC is in development, ’The Other Side of the Coin’. In it players will take control of the minions you’d normally be fighting. Giving you a chance to stick it to those conniving wizards.

For those of you who haven’t heard, nor played, Magicka, the game has you playing an apprentice wizard sent out to defeat a great evil, or somesuch. At your disposal are six elemental magics, all bound to different keys. You can combine the elements to cast powerful spells, however mistakes in your combinations can turn your friendly heal spell into a fireball, an ice beam mistyped can conjure a boulder in existence just above your head. This is rarely infuriating, and far more frequently incites tea spraying giggles. And the fun to be had solo is nothing compared to that which you can have in co-op.

  1. Magicka was one of the highlights of last year for me, just so much sheer fun in throwing around barely-controlled magic and causing havoc. Even if it still crashes sometimes.
