Little Big Planet Kart Racing incoming?

Game retailer Future Shop reveals Little Big Planet Kart Racing. Will reportedly feature 3D, Move support and new wheel peripheral.

Canadian game retailer Future Shop possibly revealed a new kart racing game based on media molecule’s Little Big Planet series. The game was first revealed via Future Shop’s Twitter account. The incriminating tweet has since been deleted.

The game was announced at the North American private retail event PlayStation Destination. The incident echoes the UK retailer Game’s Twitter accidental unveil when it announced both new Need for Speed and Medal of Honor games.

Future Shop said the Little Big Planet Kart Racer will have Move support and will be released alongside an optional wheel peripheral. According to various sources (including Kotaku) the game will also be available in 3D.

I also discovered this image of an apparent advertisement for the Kart Racer at a French video game website. While I can’t confirm its legitimacy it does look official:

How would you feel about a Little Big Planet kart racing game? I hope Crash Bandicoot will make a guest appearance for nostalgia’s sake.

  1. Given that Crash Team Racing is never making a comeback, this could be the next best thing if done right. And if it’s multiple Sony franchises getting involved, then a Crash cameo would be brilliant (though if Activision own his rights, I’m not sure it’ll happen :( )

I also wonder if this means that Sony are abandoning ModNation Racers… that basically was LBP racing.

    • Good point, I do wonder for the future of ModNation Racers because of this. It seemed like a moderately successful series, so I find it hard to believe they would ditch that series.

Maybe the constant threat of copyright violation pushed Sony away?
