Left 4 Dead DLC Free 4 PC, Not 360

Posted August 4, 2009 by Travis Barbour in News.

Crash Course Left 4 Dead

Or to put that without the numerical confusion: Valve will be releasing downloadable content for Left 4 Dead that will cost absolutely nothing if you play on the PC but comes at a cost of 560 Microsoft Points if you play on the Xbox 360.

Take a second to calm down and read about the content before you decide it’s outrageous that you’re being charged whilst Jonny PC plays for free. The DLC consists of new single player, co-op, versus and survival material all spawning from the same campaign, Crash Course.

The campaign ‘bridges the gap’ between the end of the “No Mercy” campaign and the beginning of “Death Toll” and includes new locations and new dialogue from the original cast members.

Valve are really looking at improving the Versus section of the game with this DLC, giving players a streamlined version that lasts around 30 minutes and includes improvements to balance gameplay.

The stand-out fact from all of this is that 360 owners are being charged around $7 for content after paying a higher RRP than PC  gamers in the first place. It’s quite clear which side of the fence I sit on so I’ll let you battle it out in the comments. Is it fair?

  3. f*ck that. Why should i have to pay for my live subscrption, my internet and then have to pay for this download while Pc users get it for free.Valve are only doing this because there are not enough pc gamers left to make any decent money from them. It’s wrong developers do this. Same treatment for all gamers in general, realease dates for dlc and price.

  4. You’re wrong, this isn’t Valve. It’s microsoft, dumbass console gamers. Valve wants to give you guys the DLC free, but M$ charges them to post their DLC – and rather than take a loss, they have to make up the cost by charging you $7 a hit.

It’s not fair, but Microsoft is to blame. Did you really expect to buy a console from Microsoft and not get nickeled and dimed? Console gamers truly are dense.

  6. If its microsoft why did we get the survival pack for free? and pc gaming is no where near as popular as it used to be, with consoles having almost as much power right now and being a lot cheaper in the long run, and with this economy shit rite now who wants to have to keep upgrading a pc every couple of months? if its this evil microsoft corperation why is ps3 users paying aswell
