Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning to get sequel

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be getting a sequel, 38 studios founder Curt Schilling has revealed.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning entered the UK Chart in the number one position this week, something that a brand new RPG hasn’t done since Pokemon Red. Commercial success usually means a sequel, and that’s exactly what developer 38 Studios has planned.

Speaking on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (via Gamespot), 38 Studios founder Curt Schilling revealed that a sequel is definitely coming. Responding to Fallon commenting “I bet there’s going to be a sequel”, Schilling said “Oh yeah”.

He later added: “This company was built to be something that stays around, that becomes huge.”

Presumably, the sequel will take place in the Kingdoms of Amalur once again and keep that moniker, with a new subtitle. What would naturally follow a reckoning? ARMAGEDDON. Or, more likely, it’ll be some other word that gets overused in the fantasy genre. Kingdoms of Amalur: Chaos anyone? What d’ya reckon?

EA haven’t said anything official about a sequel, and it’s possible that this is just wishful thinking from Schilling, but if he wants to make it, and it’s bringing in the bucks, there’s no reason why it won’t happen.
