At last night’s Consumer Electronics Show, Microsoft CEO Mike Balmer announced in his keynote speech that not only had the Kinect surpassed sales targets for the second time (first 3 million, then 5 million, now 8 million in just 60 days), but also unveilled the virtual chat service Avatar Kinect.
Mapping the body via the Kinect software, Avatar Kinect allows the combination of Xbox Live’s voice chat with physical movements – if you wave, so does your avatar, even subtle facial changes, like raising your eyebrows, are picked up on and reflected.
Avatar Kinect will come free to all Gold subscribers this Spring.

Fable: The Journey release date accidently revealed?

I have a Kinect because I was given it as a Christmas gift – I had no intentions of buying one for myself as there are other things that I wanted to get. But now that I have it, I’ve had a blast, I’m not surprised that it’s doing so well. The major downside at the moment is the lack of good kinect material. Only a few games are buy worthy. I look forward to seeing what else they do.
This avatar is a cute idea. For some reason a lot of us like those little avatars. Guess I better make sure to renew my gold live subscription.

I dont like actual idea of PR success talking (Sony and Microsoft). Microsoft made 8 million and sent to shops. This not equal that 8m Kinects are in homes. Soon Sony speak they “sold” 10 milions. Like childs.
Hehe. Haybe i am talking this way because i dont Kinect yet.
