Lead Online Game Designer at Guerrilla Games, Eric Boltjes has just announced an upcoming patch for Killzone 2 codenamed “1.24″ via the Playstation Blog.

According to Boltjes, this is the biggest patch to date and will address a large number of bugs, exploits and even add a few new features.

Three new ranks will be added to the game and will be attained by reaching 5k, 10k and 100k points. Although these ranks do not give any reward, like the previous ranks, they do give bragging rights to who ever manages to achieve them.

Other features include a larger HUD radar distance, a new 17-24 player search game filter and a much requested “Join Clan Member” tab in the join game screen. The patch also enables you to play against the residents of Japan, who will be able to pick up their copy of Killzone 2 on 23rd April.

Boltjes also reports that the discussion on the forums about the lack of a party system has not gone unheard of. He informs us that they are working hard on creating features that let you join your friends online with ease. Some of these features include being able to join the faction that your buddy is playing on, being able to switch between factions manually during gameplay, and making existing squads consistent over multiple rounds.

Finally, the patch also enables DLC support, so if you’re planning on purchasing the “Steel and Titanium” map pack, you may perform the happy dance at this time.
