Journey release date announced for US and Europe
James Pickard February 16, 2012 - 4:55 pmThatgamecompany’s atmospheric Journey will be released on March 13th in the US and March 14th in Europe, Sony has announced.
We’ve been waiting a long time for this news, but Sony has finally confirmed that Journey, thatgamecompany’s follow up to the ethereal Flower, will be released on March 13th in the US and the 14th in Europe on PSN for $14.99.
The ambitious project offers little more incentive than the titular journey, as you and the strangers you come to meet along the way in the washed desert environment will have to work together to reach a mountain top, which lingers on the horizon throughout the game.
With no other directions and no ability to communicate with players you meet in a traditional sense, it could be an incredibly unique experience.
“Journey, our third game, is an interactive parable, an anonymous online adventure to experience a person’s life passage and their intersections with other’s,” lead designer, Jenova Chen, wrote on the PlayStation Blog.
“Our team is very close to our own mountaintop; we are just a few short weeks away from letting the world experience what we’ve poured our hearts and souls into these last three years. I can’t describe how eager we are to let everyone finally play the game and hear about your experiences with it.”
Jamie Donnelly recently previewed Journey for BeefJack, and he’s tentatively excited for it.
We’ll be sure to bring you our review in the coming weeks.
