The Force is strong with this one… as long as you don’t plan on heavy combat.
Bioware has posted more information on one of The Old Republic’s recently revealed classes, the Jedi Consular.
As revealed earlier, the Consular will be a caster of sorts, closer to a support class. Think a priest or a cleric, only with a lightsaber.
That’s not to say the class will be totally useless; Bioware is decking the Consular out with plenty of Force powers, and you don’t get a lightsaber for nothing. Sure, you probably won’t be tanking encounters, but a little slash and dash to extricate yourself from sticky situations should be possible.
The new class page, which can be found here, describes them thus :
Jedi Consulars channel the power of the Force for strength in combat and wisdom in diplomacy. Years of arduous training and meditation have sharpened Consulars’ minds to cut to the truth as cleanly as their Lightsabers cut through their foes. Whether unlocking long forgotten mysteries of the Jedi, raising armies to fight for the Republic or engaging in mortal combat with Dark Lords of the Sith, the Consulars’ deep attunement to the Force gives them all the power they need to rise to the occasion with poise and balance.
As with all their other reveals, Bioware is doing a really nice job of providing enough information to get everyone excited about their new MMO. While I don’t see the game being a “WoW Killer”, it definitely will draw some to a galaxy far, far away.
