Japan Still Mad For Monster Hunter

The Monster Hunter series may not have taken off with quite the same vigour here in the West, but there’s no disputing Japan’s insatiable appetite for the portable incarnations of the game.
The latest PSP instalment, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, has shipped a whopping two million units in its first five days on release in Japan, gamesindustry.biz reports. That’s compared to combined Japanese sales of 15 million for all previous games in the franchise.
While its unlikely to do anything like those numbers outside of its homeland, gamers in the West can find out what all the fuss is about sometime in the summer of 2011.
