Insomniac: Resistance franchise is still “fertile ground”

Insomniac have said the Resistance universe is still “fertile ground” for more games, even if the current storyline is coming to an end.

Resistance 3 comes out this week on PlayStation 3, and it is set to bring an end to the trilogy that tells the story of Nathan Hale and Joe Capelli as they fight off the Chimera invasion of earth. Does the end of the trilogy mean the end of Resistance? Not according to Insomniac.

Speaking in an interview with CVG, senior designer Cameron Christian and writer Jon Paquette hinted that they feel the Resistance universe still has plenty of potential for more games.

Paquette said: ” The franchise is really strong and I think the universe is great to play in. You saw the reveal of Burning Skies [for PS Vita] over at Gamescom and that’s just one example of another game that could be made on a different piece of hardware, with a different main character but in the same universe. I think it’s still fertile ground.”

Burning Skies follows the path of a New York fireman in the aftermath of the Chimera invasion, and is being developed by Nihilistic – Insomniac don’t have a problem with this, and would love to see more original ideas that other developers could bring to the franchise.

Paquette said: “We’ve been saying that there’s so much that you could do with the Chimera and all of the weapons and everything… it’s cool to see what other people would do with it”.
