History Legends of War, the turn based strategy game, marches towards release
Sean Cargle December 21, 2012 - 8:11 pmSlitherine is releasing this historical world war II strategy game on February 22nd and they are aiming to attract more gamers to the TBS genre.

Slitherine has been trying to attract more gamers to the turn based strategy genre for quite some time. Initially they came out with Battle Academy for PC and iOS, which BeefJack’s Matt Thrower just wrote about in an article about the niche world of high-priced mobile games, and that turned some heads away due to its hefty price, but now they are taking another stab with a different kind of World War II TBS. Legends of War is a focused squad based strategy game that has some casual and RPG elements. It is all focused on Patton’s march from the beaches of Normandy to breaching Berlin.
While the video below presents the game as if it overly simple, it does have a persistent campaign that lets you build up your troops overtime. You build up your squads abilities as you move through the campaign and you also increase Patton’s skills as a General. Presumably, since the game has History channels name and logo attached to the game, this will be a fairly accurate recreation of Patton’s campaign through Europe. Unlike Slitherine’s previous games, this one is on a much smaller scale, but you will still command infantry, tanks and planes. There will be many different types of missions as you go through the campaign, like sabotage or infiltration, and it will take quite some time to battle through all thirty-five missions.
Personally I cannot tell how this game will be from the videos and press releases, but I’m hoping to god that they don’t follow the same pattern as their previous releases and slap an overly hefty price tag onto their various versions. It will all be coming out on February 22nd for consoles, PC and PS Vita. Check out the one video they have out below and keep your eyes peeled for this game in February. It would be nice to have a good strategy game on consoles for once.
