Here we go again, Dishonored region lock issues in Eastern Europe

News: Those who have purchased Dishonored for the international price in Russian and Eastern Europe are finding that they have once again been tricked.

Just yesterday I was writing about XCOM: Enemy Unknown having region lock issues in Eastern Europe, but 2k Games has fixed that already and this issue is more closely related to what happened with the Russian/CIS/FSU version of Borderlands 2. People are justifiably up in arms about Dishonored being marketed falsely in Eastern Europe. They were told that if they paid the price of the international version that they would get the same version as everyone in else in Europe, but as the game released across the world these people are finding that their version is being designated as the RHCP version (the Russia, Hungary, Czech and Poland version).

The RHCP version means these people have different language packs, specifically English, Russian, Hungarian, Czech and Polish, which is far better than that Borderlands 2 region locked version that only had Russian, but the real issues have to do with bugs and DLC. The RHCP version will not get DLC for Dishonored at the same time as people with international version and their version will have more bugs because it is different version, just like other Bethesda Softworks games. There is also the chance that they won’t get the DLC at all, like Skyrim.  However, it isn’t Bethesda’s fault per say, it is the problem of whomever they hand off the publishing to in Eastern Europe. Arkane Studios, the developer of Dishonored, has already responded to this issue by saying,

The fact is that Bethesda does not distribute Dishonored in Eastern Europe, which means that in the end, Dishonored RHCP is a totally different product. Sorry to hear that pisses you off, but there’s really no other we could handle this!

They may not have been able to handle it any other way, but at the very least they could have marketed that version correctly as the RHCP version and not the international version that people are paying a lot more for.

If you having this problem or you would like to follow it all, head on over the Dishonored forums or this Reddit thread about it. Hopefully, just like the region lock problem Borderlands 2, this will get fixed in a timely fashion. Also, don’t get this confused with the cheaper Russian version that is appropriately region locked, this version that people are buying is the same price, if not more, than the version we all are buying in Western Europe or North America.
