Despite being sceptical of the Wii as a gaming platform to say the least, stumbling upon the trailer for the forthcoming Gods Vs Humans (brought to us by Zallag and Artefact Studios) has significantly brightened up my evening. For a start, there’s nothing out there that has taken a religious parable of significance (the Tower of Babel), and put a fun, accessible, cartoonish spin on it.
Assuming the role of 16 different Gods from across four separate mythologies, the player has to stop those darn cheeky humans from building a tower so they can usurp your power. Simple enough.
The interesting part comes into play as being a God, you have to rely on the faith of the very people you’re trying to stop. Thus, you have to get crafty – distract, confuse, misdirect and downright terrify your followers, it’s an interesting idea. Take a peek:
Perhaps I’m reading into this a bit too much, but on paper, Gods Vs Humans sounds like the most even-handed approach to religious conflict ever featured in a game.
And on the Wii, no less!
Gods Vs Humans is due out October 1st on the WiiWare marketplace.
