Gameflow To Appear in Madden 11′s Superstar Mode

Through e-mail correspondence with Electronic Arts, Beefjack has learned that Gameflow, one of Madden 11′s defining features, will be affecting Superstar mode.

Gameflow is a system that removes all play calling responsibilities from the user in favor of having an AI system choose plays based on the tendencies and gameplans of the real life coaches/teams. The aim here is to shorten the overall time that it takes to play a game while simultaneously increasing the sense of realism that a user will experience when playing Madden. Just like real athletes, users will be tasked with successfully executing the gameplan as called by the coaching staff.

This level of on field realism is, to an extent, the crux of Superstar mode as a whole. Over the past few years though, this feature has been met with a great deal of criticism. Overall, the focus of that negative feedback has been on the lack of growth in terms of depth and quality in the mode. Bringing Gameflow to Superstar mode should drastically improve the overall quality of one’s experience on the virtual field. Anybody who spent any significant time with Superstar in Madden 10 can tell you that the playbooks were sparse and the playcalling AI was spotty. Bringing this refined and updated system of play calls and gameplans to Superstar mode should add a great deal to the game’s quality.

The part of Gameflow that allows the virtual coaches and coordinators to speak to users providing tips on how to run plays will not show up in Superstar mode. The rest of Gameflow will remain intact.

Madden 11 will be releasing on all three major consoles and the PSP on August 10, 2010.
