GAME denies website hacking claims

UK games retailer, GAME, has denied rumours that customer details from their online store have been stolen by hackers.

It was reported earlier today that the website of the UK’s biggest videogame retailer, GAME, had suffered from an intrusion. Supposedly, the hackers had managed to acquire the usernames and passwords of a number of its customers.

However, in an official statement on the company’s Facebook page, a spokesperson settled any fears by assuring that no customer details had not been stolen – in fact – there hadn’t even been a security breach at all.

“At GAME we guard our customers’ details very carefully. We have thoroughly investigated the hacking claims made today by the website Pastebin, and can confirm that they are entirely false. The published email addresses are not registered users of GAME.co.uk, and there has been no breach of our database security.”

That’s that settled then.

  1. GAME is still operational? Huh. I just sort of assumed that Amazon and Play.com would have put them out of business by now.
