It would be crazy to launch a new social network without the chance of there being social games for users to interact with, and further evidence of Google’s intentions with Google+ have emerged this week.
Slashgear are reporting that until recently a help page related to games on Google+ had existed. Previous reports have indicated that Google are just waiting for the right moment to launch into social games on Google+, with code related to such functionality hidden away in the social network platform.
The help page that was stumbled upon, but has since been taken down, clearly refers to viewing updates about people’s games in a “Games stream”. The advantage of games on Google+ (at least for people who don’t actually want to play social games in the first place and have nothing to do with them) is obviously the would-be opportunity to look at updates on the network without seeing eleven progress achievements in a row related to generic resource farming game ninety-two.
Because seeing more than one update for generic resource farming game ninety-two is a trial in mental endurance in of itself. Clearly Google wants to make sure that its investment in Zynga doesn’t antagonize early adopters of Google+ who are fed up with having to remove games from their news feed in Facebook.
