Funding Opens for Babycastles, an Indie Arcade in Manhattan

Through the independent funding website Kickstarter a project for Babycastles, an indie-game arcade in Manhattan, has begun.

Their plan is to raise at least $6,000 by October 3rd, 2010. If they meet their goal they’ll lease 217 East 42nd Street next to Grand Central Station (seen in a video here) from October 4th, 2010 to December 29th, 2010. They plan to host six different two-week exhibitions for artists and video games during the days. At night it’ll transform into an art gallery, arcade, and a place for various games and music hosting.

If you’re interested in donating, they’ve got various bonuses for different increments. Ranging from $5 for stickers and a temporary tattoo, to $25 for a t-shirt, all the way to $2,500 for you a pile of signed games, a neon (argon?) sign, a portrait of yourself to hang at Babycastles, and much more.

Currently they’re at $350/$6,000, and every dollar helps. Even if you don’t live in New York, donating at least $5 earns you some neat stickers and the knowledge you helped the little guys. If you’re not interested, tell your friends who are.

Look here if you’re interested in donating or seeing what they have to offer in full detail.

Will you be donating? Do you like indie games? Why haven’t you donated yet?
