Scot Bayless, a former studio head at Microsoft, has expressed his belief that the Natal will be a failure for Microsoft,
In an interview with Retro Gamer, Bayless cited his former history working on the failure that was the 32x peripheral for the Genesis while at Sega. When meeting with Microsoft to see the device itself, the inability to integrate it with Xbox 360 made him respond to the team working on it “you’re going to fail”.
Bayless also believed that the device would split consumers between those who have Natal and those who don’t, as well as acting as a disincentive for developers:
Plays like this always fragment and the disincentive to developers is powerful; when I’m spending tens of millions on a game, the last thing I want to do is lose 90 per cent of my market
Project Natal will be available for preview at this year’s e3.
