Brian Fargo  will be funding a sequel to Wasteland using Kickstarter next month.

Brian Fargo of Fallout and Wasteland fame has announced that he’ll be funding a sequel to Wasteland using Kickstarter. The fund will open next month, giving our wallets a reprieve from this month’s splurge.

The Fallout series was caught up with legal difficulties long before the recent spat between Bethesda and Interplay. Before Fallout a number of the team, amongst them Brian Fargo, worked on a game called Wasteland. It was released in 1988 with EA as the publisher, who also retained the rights to the Wasteland series. Fargo then moved on to Interplay where he worked on Fallout and Fallout 2 before leaving the company to form InXile.

In the interim he’s picked up the rights to the Wasteland licence and is looking to make a new game with a “complete old school vibe and made with input from gamers. Made the gamers way.”

The game would be for PC and mobile devices (most likely the iPad). Though, unlike Schafer, Fargo’s set his sights high and asking for $1,000,000.

I don’t know about you but I’m excited.
