It may not have caught your attention, but attentive readers of Origin’s Terms and Services document found a few paragraphs that suggested, worryingly, that inactive users ran the risk of having paid content deleted from their account. Now, an EA rep steps in to play down these fears.

If you’re the sort of person who scrutinises the small print of everything you sign, you may have picked up on a rather disturbing few sentences under Origin’s ‘Content and Entitlement Availability‘ section of the Terms and Services document:
‘We do not guarantee that any Content or Entitlement will be available at all times or at any given time or that we will continue to offer particular Content or Entitlements for any particular length of time. We reserve the right to change and update Content and Entitlements without notice to you. If you have not used your Entitlements or Account for twenty four (24) months or more and your Account has associated Entitlements, your Entitlements will expire and your Account may be cancelled for non-use.’
In a nutshell, if you don’t use your Origin account for a year or two, any content you’ve paid for may be deleted without notification. Ouch. Today, speaking to Platform Nation, an EA rep clarified, ‘Rest assured 100% we will never delete paid content.’
Still, it begs the question – why word the documentation in such a way that it worries your user base?
