Dreadline enters Kickstarter
Jamie Donnelly January 4, 2013 - 11:29 amIt’s been over six months since we heard about Eerie Canal’s Dreadline, but it’s lost in time no longer. The studio have resurfaced to launch a Kickstarter campaign, and so, inevitably, need your help.

Another day, another Kickstarter – we sure do like encouraging you to cough up your hard-earned cash. This time it’s Eerie Canal’s turn to delve into the coffers of their adoring (or so they hope) public, as they want $168,000 to fund the incredibly sadistic, but fantastically whimsical, Dreadline.
The tagline is really what sells it best: “Where time is running out, for those who have run out of time”. You take the mantle of a kid who thinks he’s a ghost, and has got himself mixed up with a group of time-travelling monsters. Revisiting some of the world’s most infamous tragedies, they’re rewriting the history books – but they won’t be giving anything a happy ending. Instead, they’re simply offing the already doomed people themselves – possibly the most inconsiderate and pointless use of time travel, but they are only monsters.
Basically, if you’ve ever dreamed of going back to just before the Titanic sunk and saving yourself from the heartbreak of watching poor Leo let go of the raft, now you can. You’ll just have to eat him instead.
It was back in May that we first heard of Dreadline, and we’ve not had a peep since then – rumours were even circling that a mischievous bunch of monsters had got their fangs on the developers. Luckily the project is still alive and kicking, though, but they just need a little to help to push it over the finish line and get it released in 2013.
The team is made up of ex-Harmonix and ex-Irrational Games devs, meaning there’s plenty of talented chops involved, and they’ve got grand ambitions for what originally started out as a small project. It’s an absolutely brilliant concept, and an RPG/RTS hybrid with a frantic pace sounds very intriguing, so hopefully they get what they need.
