News: Double Fine Adventure has raised 2 million dollars in funding through its Kickstarter donation page.
$400, 000 seems so far away now doesn’t it? And such a small amount. It was the original goal for Double Fine‘s Kickstarter fund, but after just eleven days they’ve managed to raise five times that amount. The current figure now stands at 2 million dollars – with 22days left, could it reach $3 million?
The Kickstarter met its initial goal in just a few hours, going on to reach $1million dollars within the first day. Tim Schafer is fully aware that the fans backing the project want an original adventure game, and we reckon his and Ron Gilbert‘s history bodes very well for the upcoming title.
While $2million seems like a lot of money, especially for a smallish studio like Double Fine, it’s put into perspective when you consider the budget for Psychonauts was $13million, and that a similar level of funding is wanted to make a sequel. Even so, it’s a budget that will allow Schafer and co to easily meet their original plans for the game and more, and hopefully allow them to craft something utterly brilliant.
If you want to donate to the project – because as this news shows, they’re clearly in need of the money – head over to the official Kickstarter page. There’s even rewards in it for you!
