District 9 blu-ray to contain God of War III demo

In a rare ‘double-whammy’ release of content, the blu-ray disk for my favorite movie of this year, District 9, will contain a demo for God of War III. I suppose the people who didn’t want to re-buy the first two games on the Collection have an excuse to avoid it, and still get early access.

According to blu-ray.com, the Senior Executive Vice President of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Lexine Wong, had this to say:

“We are thrilled to give consumers not only an incredible high definition presentation of District 9 and the wealth of bonus material about the movie, but also a taste of what is destined to be the biggest video game of 2010. This pairing of the movie and game demo is just another example of what is possible with the Blu-ray format.”

The release of the “Ultimate Edition” of Watchmen on blu-ray contained both the director’s cut of the movie and the “The End is Nigh” duology of games, but I’m not sure if they were on the same disk. Also of not for District 9/God of War fans, if you beat the demo, you’ll unlock “an exclusive ‘God of War III’ making-of featurette”.

I’ve heard rumors that some special editions of movies would include the game on the disk, but I haven’t seen it wide spread (or at all) yet. I’m sure someone out there wants the ‘thrown together in six months’ game version of their favorite movie.
