Deadly Premonition Gets Weirder: The “Raincort” Killer

Posted November 4, 2010 by Lewis Denby in News.

Good spot by journo-pal Chris Schilling on this one. Deadly Premonition is a very weird game, with countless oddities hidden inside. In fact, much of it is simply badly made, with glaring errors throughout. And that, it seems, includes the UK cover art.

The game focuses on a mysterious, axe-wielding dude called the Raincoat Killer. Which the back of the box proudly refers to as the “Raincort Killer”.

Yeah, I know, typo nit-pickery. But with a game as strange as Deadly Premonition, I almost wonder if it was intentional…

(Probably not.)

As Chris says, it kinda makes it sound like the guy’s from Yorkshire. Which is where I’m from, so I can get behind that. We’re all maniacs here.

Deadly Premonition is out now, and is subtly brilliant, despite its shortcomings.

  1. I had to laugh when I spotted the misspelt ‘Wihte’ during the chess mini-game thing in episode 1.

  2. I’m pretty sure I spotted “Zach” spelled “Zack” at one point, too. Though that might have been in my mind.

Also, right at the beginning: “The sign says ‘Welcome to Greenvale’.” NO IT DOESN’T!
