David Jaffe: Twisted Metal demo matchmaking issues are being addressed

Matchmaking issues with the Twisted Metal demo are being addressed over the weekend, says David Jaffe.

The demo for Twisted Metal, the car-driving, car-shooting car game from God of War lead designer David Jaffe, has been available for nearly a week now but has been blighted by matchmaking issues. Fortunately, developers Eat Sleep Play have been banging away at the problem and should have it sorted by the end of this weekend, according to Jaffe.

“Twisted Metal demo update direct from our Sony producer: matchmaking issues not fully addressed but fail rate is down to 50%,” said Jaffe on Twitter – although I’ve taken the liberty of translating the statement into a less free approximation of English.

“[The] team’s working on weekend to fix so ideally the game will be at 0% fail rate soon. Thanks again for being patient with us – means lots.”

A 50 percent matchmaking fail rate! Things must have been very bad indeed. Twisted Metal is set to receive a patch on the first day of its US release next week, so lets hope it’s hitch-less by the time it reaches the UK on March 1st.

Twisted Metal was original set to arrive here on February 17th, but was delayed to ‘localise’ some of its more violent cutscenes.
