Crysis 3’s graphics only 5 to 10% better on consoles, says Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli
Paul Yan February 20, 2013 - 5:20 amCrytek CEO Cevat Yerli said that Crysis 3 on the Xbox 360 and PS3 will naturally look better than Crysis 2, but graphically-speaking, it could only gain a five to 10 percent improvement on consoles.

Like the first Crysis, Crytek are trying to melt down PCs with Crysis 3, and based on some of the impressive gameplay footage of the very-soon-to-be-released game, that certainly appears to be the case. At least for the PC version.
For consoles, not much could be pushed on the graphic side of things. “This time around the consoles couldn’t gain much more,” Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli told Eurogamer in an interview. “It was like a five per cent or ten per cent gain. That’s it.”
That’s understandable considering a lot of game developers have probably maxed out the power of current-gen consoles, which are near the end of their life-cycle. However, this doesn’t mean that Crysis 3 won’t look better than Crysis 2. “We gained on consoles visually and perception wise of quality through different techniques, not just brute force technology,” continued Yerli. “So I think it’s above Crysis 2 on consoles.”
And, even if Crysis 3 is only a five to 10 percent improvement, “most games are not even anywhere near Crysis 2 technically,” Yerli claimed last year in November, adding that “Crysis 3 is absolutely maxing out the consoles” and that there’s “absolutely not even 1% left.”
So that’s encouraging, but we all know that the PC version of the game will look far sexier, and as a console gamer myself, that saddens me. I want grafix pr0n, too!
