Counter-Strike: Global Offensive closed beta from November 30th

Valve have revealed that the closed beta for Counter-Strike update Global Offensive will begin on November 30th.

The third major installment of the counter-terrorism multiplayer FPS with the ultra-conservative fanbase, co-developed by Valve and Washington’s Hidden Path Entertainment, is still set for release in early 2012. Which means it’s about closed beta o’clock for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, according to Valve.

“The beta will be active for all current key holders starting Wed November 30th”, said the developer via Twitter.

“It is important to us to get current players in the beta. That will happen. No eta on when yet,” they added.

The beta is available for PC only.

At the end of September, Valve’s Chet Faliszek claimed that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s PC version would be a “different beast” to its Xbox and PlayStation counterparts, and would allow for modding. Taking into consideration just how different a beast Team Fortress 2 PC has become to its Xbox equivalent – thanks to numerous free updates unavailable through Xbox Live – I wouldn’t doubt that for a second.
