Could a super-slim PS3 be on the cards?

News: Would Sony ever release an even slimmer model of the PS3? Not just yet, they say – but it’s not something they would rule out completely.

The PlayStation 3 is already rather more lean than it used to be, Sony having released the PS3 slim model back in 2009, but the Japanese hardware giants have now suggested they might be up for releasing an even slimmer edition of their console.

Nothing’s confirmed yet, but the company recently explained how they’d “never say never” to opportunities to make their hardware fit better in our homes.

“Hardware guys are always looking at ways to make things cheaper, smaller,” said Shuhei Yoshida, in response to Eurogamer’s inquisition at E3. They’re clearly happy with keeping things the way they are for the time being – but with a PS4 reveal looking likely within the next year, this might be an opportunity for one last market push for the company’s current-gen console.
