Cannon Fodder 3 released with little fanfare

Cannon Fodder 3 has quietly hit the market despite the series’ fame.

Cannon Fodder is one of the first games I ever played. A fantastic little top down squad shooter with over the top explosions of blood and fire long before that became the norm. So why have Codemasters shipped Cannon Fodder 3 to market without shouting it from the rooftops?

Well, for a start it’s not been developed by Sensible Software (they of Sensible Soccer fame). Instead it’s been created by Moscow-based studio Game Factory Interactive, makers of… um, Who Said Meow?. Right, so that’s not necessarily a criticism, it could be that Codemasters saw something in this little-known Russian studio that no one else did. Except, well, this isn’t a press release that rings of confidence:

“Exclusively, only on gamersgate.com, capture enemy vehicles and bases, save hostages and rescue convicts, hold the line and shoot back from the turrets, search for data discs and spare parts, repair broken robots and bypass minefields.”

No, that’s not a clipping, that is the press release.

So, if you fancy getting your hands on the newest Cannon Fodder then go here. But it may be best to consider it (tee hee) not cannon.
