Call of Duty: Black Ops Gets Hollywood Talent

Call of Duty: Black Ops’ voice cast has been expanded, Activision have revealed this morning – Gary Oldman and Ed Harris have joined the ranks.
Oldman – known for his work in The Professional, Dracula, Batman: The Dark Knight, and The Book of Eli – will reprise his role as Viktor Reznov from Call of Duty: World at War. Harris – who’s best known for his roles in films such as The Abyss, A History of Violence, Pollock, Apollo 13 and The Right Stuff – will play one of the game’s main characters, CIA operative Jason Hudson.
Meanwhile, David S. Goyer’s been brought in to work on the narrative. His writing credits include Batman: Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Blade, and the upcoming Superman: Man of Steel.
It’s great to see narrative and performance being taken so seriously in games. I can think of a few that could do to take a leaf out of Codblops’ book. Like, most of the games.

Although it seems they have got top talent here, it often does not work out so well.
Most Hollywood actors are terrible for voice-over work. See any non-pixar animated film of late. Professional voice actors are often a much better choice and can fill a multitude of roles in the game offering much better value for money.
At any rate we need more games with Brian Blessed.
