News: Gearbox Software have apparently demoed Borderlands 2 on a Tegra 3-powered Android device, suggesting a tablet port is in the works.
According to a report by Android And Me, visitors to Portland’s PDXLAN were given a Borderlands 2-shaped surprise. Gearbox Software were said to be in attendance, showing off the gun-crazed sequel running on an Android tablet equipped with one of NVIDIA‘s Tegra 3 processors.
Though the report makes reference to the possibility of “console quality” games running on Android tablets, it isn’t clear if Gearbox managed to squeeze the same version of Borderlands 2 that will appear on PS3, 360 and PC this summer into the tiny machines or if they’re developing a pared-down port. Either way, the potential for triple-AAA titles making their way to handheld devices is likely to be good news for Android fans – and, of course, the wallets of the people that make them.
Borderlands 2 itself is shaping up nicely, set to feature revamped weaponry and AI as well as a rather pissed-off Claptrap companion.
