Borderlands 2 reveals the game that started it all: The Border Lands
James Haresign August 23, 2012 - 3:21 pmNews: Gearbox release the 16-bit precursor to Borderlands, The Border Lands, for free.
It seems Gearbox forgot to release a game in 1989. That’s the only explanation I can think of for The Border Lands, a 16-bit game that apparently started the Borderlands franchise off. Kinda weird that it features all the Borderlands 2 characters though.
Yes, it’s really an genius bit of marketing from Gearbox. A demake of the game transporting it back to the heady days of the SNES and Mega Drive. It’s top down shooter that plays a lot like Smash-TV and manages to retain a lot of Borderlands too, leveling and a crazy amount of guns dropped by enemies. There’s even a young Clap-trap in it.
