Black Mesa officially greenlit, Steam release planned
Joannes Truyens September 11, 2012 - 7:23 pmNews: The community has spoken! The Black Mesa modification has been officially approved through Valve Software’s Greenlight system, paving the way for a release on Steam.

Update: Development lead Carlos Montero has taken to the forum to assure everyone that “we WILL be releasing on Friday, in some form or another, no matter what.”
“The community has shown their interest in this game. Valve has reached out to this developer to start moving things toward release on Steam.” That’s what the Greenlight page for Black Mesa says. It only took six days for the ambitious project to reach enough votes, which also makes it the first one to be approved by Valve’s new system. Strangely enough, the list for greenlit projects still comes up as empty.
The game is scheduled for release in less than three days, but the process of arranging a launch on Steam probably takes a little longer than that to set up.
Still, this is great news for the developers. Black Mesa’s distribution will be a much smoother process now. No need to download a bulky .zip file. You can even do it from work now!

What news! Today is a good day!
Friday will also be a good day! When it is released!
I’ve been waiting for Black Mesa for years (probably with most anyone who’s heard about it). Can’t wait ’til Friday. I just have to clear some more space from my D: drive so I can get it. What haven’t I played lately that I can do without?
