BioWare discuss their plans for mobile games
Lewis Denby November 29, 2011 - 12:40 pmRenowned developer BioWare is moving into the mobile gaming space. Here, the company’s founders reveal how these games will support BioWare’s reputation for rich interactive fiction, while telling different kinds of stories to their AAA titles.

Once a proud, PC-only developer, BioWare has since cemented itself as a major, AAA console studio. But that’s not all the company is capable of. It’s also been moving into the social gaming space and, next, it’ll be heading towards mobile games.
BioWare’s co-founders, Drs Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka, have been keeping tight-lipped in terms of actually revealing any of their upcoming mobile games – but, speaking to BeefJack recently, they did talk about their more general plan. The big idea? Typically rich BioWare stories, told in a new form for these new platforms.
“The idea being able to enable our players to play the games where they want, how they want, when they want and being able to take it with them on the go, that’s exciting to us – the idea of being able to bring BioWare quality, and richness, and depth, and choice and consequence, to stories that are appropriate for the platforms,” said Muzyka.
It’s important to play to the strengths of whatever format you’re making a game for, he explained.
“So we’re trying to adapt what we build and tune it to the needs of and desires of our fans across whatever platform they’re intending to play it on. And always leave them with the feeling that they’re playing something that’s awesome, really high quality.”
