Battlefield: Bad Company 3 and Mirror’s Edge 2 listed on dev CVs
Joannes Truyens May 16, 2012 - 11:22 amNews: Mentions of Battlefield 3: Bad Company 3 and Mirror’s Edge 2 have turned up on select LinkedIn profiles, suggesting that both titles are currently in development at DICE.
About a month ago, the rumour surfaced that Mirror’s Edge 2 is in development for next-gen consoles. A third entry in the Battlefield: Bad Company series is also supposedly being worked on. Now, after some detective work by the folks at Gamerzines, several LinkedIn CVs have been discovered that indicate that there may be more fact to the rumours.
The profile of a former employee at Electronic Arts lists the implementation of “the wandering of crowd system within Unreal3 engine” for Mirror’s Edge 2 in 2009. That does sound a bit strange, since it’s been stated that a possible sequel to the 2008 parkour game would make use of DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine. Still, that was 2009, and an engine change isn’t too uncommon.
A different profile lists work on “new gadgets, interactive features, leaderboards and a mini-game embedded into the story” for Mirror’s Edge 2.
A third profile mentions “video game prototype, design and demo feedback on various AAA titles including Battlefield: Bad Company 3, Dead Space 2, Devil May Cry 5 and other unannounced titles.”
Neither game has been officially announced by DICE or EA, but maybe we’ll see something on either or both at next month’s E3.
