Electronic Arts highly anticipated multi vehicle World War 2 shooter Battlefield 1943 has been confirmed as being released next week. The Xbox 360 version is being released on the 8th July for 1200 Microsoft points, while the Playstation 3 version is released a day later for $15. If you want to purchase the PC version you will have to wait until September.
Battlefield 1943 comes with 3 maps available to play, and offers online multiplayer action for up to 24 players. In what is either a shrewd marketing move playing on the year the game is set, or just the developers being mean, a fourth map “Coral Sea” is included in the game but will only be unlocked once 43 million player kills have been reached on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network. While this number sounds a lot, given that there will probably be many people playing the game I anticipate it will be reached relatively quickly.

I’m a Battlefield fan, and the game looks cool enough, gonna pick it up on release day for the 360. It’s a plus that the day is also my birthday.
