Bastion creator reveals new game Transistor, set for a 2014 release
Joannes Truyens March 19, 2013 - 5:08 pmSupergiant, the developer behind the acclaimed Bastion, have announced their next game. Transistor is to be a “sci-fi themed action RPG” set for release sometime next year.

Well, this certainly looks interesting. Supergiant, they of Bastion fame, have just now announced their next game. Titled Transistor, it’s set to be a science-fiction-themed action RPG played from an isometric view. The game currently has a wide release window of 2014, though Supergiant “have not yet decided on which platform or platforms the game will be available for.”
The eponymous Transistor is apparently the name of a powerful weapon that falls into the hands of a young woman who was about to be killed with it. “Now she must fight from street to street against forces that will stop at nothing to recover the weapon. During the course of the adventure, players will piece together the Transistor’s mysteries as they pursue its former owners,” says the developer’s official site.
Transistor will “seamlessly integrate thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience, complete with our studio’s signature melding of responsive gameplay and rich atmospheric storytelling.”
The trailer certainly looks intriguing and paints the game as encompassing multiple gameplay styles. It looks like it plays a lot like Bastion, which those visiting PAX East this week will be able to check for themselves, as Transistor will be playable there.
