News: Baldur’s Gate I and II have been found lurking on the Steam registry by internet sleuths, indicating they could be coming to the digital distibuter soon.
Is Baldur’s Gate coming to Steam? It could well be, although a time of release is currently unknown, and the evidence is far from concrete. However, it’s the same way that Alan Wake PC was unearthed, and that turned out to be true.
The news comes from a user on the Steam forums, who claims to have found evidence for Baldur’s Gate II lurking in the Steam registry. Later on in the thread, another user points to a registry for the first Baldur’s Gate, hinting that both games will in fact be coming. Given that Baldur’s Gate links to Baldur’s Gate II very directly, with the ability to transfer character, it’d make sense to bring them both to Steam.
It’s already available on digital distributor GOG, so Steam won’t be the first to bring it to our digital shores. If you’ve never played it, then I highly recommend you do, as BeefJack reckons it’s one of the top 100 games of all time.
