News: Rovio have announced Angry Birds Space, a new Angry Birds game set in, well, space.
Earlier today, I saw Penny Arcade’s latest comic. It’s about Angry Birds Space, and at first, I thought they’d completely made it up: taking the micky out of the many iterations of Angry Birds we’ve so far seen. I’d missed the news that Rovio had actually announced an actual game called Angry Birds Space, and that it’s a very real thing. Part of me wishes it wasn’t.
It’s scheduled for release on the 22nd March, and Rovio are claiming it’ll be the “biggest game launch since the original Angry Birds!” Check out the teaser trailer for it:
The developer’s also claiming that it’ll be a “completely new game with innovative new gameplay”, but somehow I don’t quite believe them. It’s going to be Angry Birds, probably with some anti-gravity mechanism, and you’re going to be flinging a bird through the sky. There’s nothing wrong with that, but Rovio are milking the franchise absolutely dry, and I think I’ll just stick with the bog-standard version.
