American McGee’s Akaneiro: Demon Hunters moves into open beta
Sean Cargle January 9, 2013 - 11:13 pmEven though it just launched on Kickstarter, anyone can now jump into the PC beta for this Japanese themed APRG.

Five days ago Akaneiro: Demon Hunters arrived on Kickstarter with American McGee leading the charge. So far his campaign to get this Japanese/Little Red Riding Hood themed action RPG finished has been largely successfully, with $50,000 pledged to game after only five days and with another twenty-four days to go to reach their goal of $200,000. I’m not used to seeing Kickstarter games already being in beta, but Akaneiro is that far along already and today it has moved into open beta.
The open beta is for the PC version of the game only, there will eventually be a beta for the iOS version as well, and you can jump straight in by merely signing up for an account over on the Akaneiro beta login page. The beta will only be running until January 16th and it is meant to be a stress test, so don’t expect perfect performance or for it to be free. If you were in the previous beta you might be enticed to jump back in and try it since the open beta will be adding: advanced character training, the Shivering Pines area, new enemies and weapon improvements.
Alongside the press release that contains all of this beta information, there is also a Kickstarter update that gives most of the same details, but it also reveals that they are currently experimenting with indie friendly Ouya console to see if Akaneiro will be compatible for that and how easy it will be to get that onto there. However, they are already trying to get the game onto many different platforms and getting it onto Ouya isn’t guaranteed. Lastly, these updates come with a whole slew of new screenshots of the beta in action, so check out the majority of them in the two galleries of the two areas below.
