Aliens And Predators Won’t Be Fighting Over In Australia

We all kind of saw it coming, but here it is the upcoming title Aliens Vs Predator has indeed, been banned in Australia. The rating board cited the title with having the following details.

Characters can be stabbed with a Predator’s wrist blade or an Alien’s tail in depictions reminiscent of impalement. The Predator collects ‘trophies’ by explicitly ripping off human heads, their spinal columns dangling from severed necks. Heads can be twisted completely around in order to break a character’s neck. Eyes can be stabbed through or gouged, leaving empty, bloodied eye sockets.

It is noted that a player is able to combine manoeuvres together in quick succession, which further increases impact; for example, a Predator can stab a character through both eyes with its wrist blade and rip off their head, with spinal column still attached. Extensive post-mortem damage, including decapitation and dismemberment, is also possible.

Now the interesting thing here, don’t these sound like a really good representation of the content in the films these characters are taken from? Yeah they sound like a perfect representation of films that are not banned in Australia, double standards? Yeah looks it, doesn’t matter though, don’t think Michael Atkinson cares about fairness.

The title was also said to be facing a banning in Germany, but since Sega declined from even trying to get the game rated there. For one thing you have to hand it to Sega, they’ve kept their balls with this title, if Paul Anderson had any to start with we’d probably have a film that’d be on par with the franchise as well.

Still at least this’ll make for a highly interesting Zero Punctuation episode.
