A new Ultima may just be on the horizon
Sean Cargle March 1, 2013 - 11:18 pmRichard Garriott has released one image and is building hype for the announcement of something in six days.

It has been more than a decade since the last Ultima game, Ultima Online, and creator of the series Richard Garriott has been strongly hinting at a new release since 2009, when he founded the company Portalarium with the goal of creating new games that bring the original series into the new social market. That sure sounds vague and it is, but the general rumor is that Portalarium are creating something called the Ultimate RPG. Let none of this be confused with the Ultima game that EA is making, they are not affiliated.
It could be some social Facebook game that most gamers won’t care about, especially since Portalarium are linked to Zynga for publishing purposes, or it could be an Ultima Online 2 that will handle cross platform in a way no other MMO has done before. Furthermore, if they manage to take the original ideas of Ultima Online and expand that into a fully free-form player run game then most people many people might actually be interested, especially since no one has really tried that outside of the original UO and Eve Online.
Regardless of my speculation, hopes, and pessimism, Richard Garriott has released a teaser website called Lord British Presents, which merely has a timer counting down to six days from now, March 7th. Richard Garriott has tweeted about it a bit and released the above image in relation to the peculiar announcement. Definitely check back with BeefJack to see exactly what comes from all of this.
