101 In 1 Sports Megamix Announced

Over the past year or so, Atlus has released a variety of 101-in-1 Megamix games. These titles are, in a nutshell, mini-game collections that give users, not surprisingly, 101 games in one package. Today, Atlus announced their new project in the series, 101-in-1 Sports Megamix.

The Sports Megamix will feature a wide variety of both classic and more unorthodox sports mini games ranging from bowling and volleyball to caber tossing, capoeira and street luge. The various events are being designed as easy to learn, hard to master challenges that will reward players tangibly with points that can be used to unlock other mini-games.

The overarching goal of 101-in-1 Sports Remix is to provide a perfect handheld title in that it can be enjoyed on the casual level that is often associated with mobile gaming, while still providing enough challenge and depth to engross anyone who takes it seriously enough.  As such, a great deal of effort is being put into using the Nintendo DS’s dual screens and variety of control methods to create games with quick playability and underlying depth.

101-in-1 Sports Megamix is a DS exclusive at this point, but that could change as other Megamix titles have found their way on to the Wii. The collection of games is set to release on the DS sometime in August of 2010 for $19.99.
