According to reports from Square Enix, Time Warner has thrown it’s support for Square Enix’s bid to acquire Eidos. This is an important development as Time Warner owns a majority share in the UK based publisher. Support from Warner means that in addition to shareholders who are already on board over 30% of Eidos shareholders approve the acquisition.

Even Eidos’ own board of directors are in favor of the bid, advising their shareholders to accept the £84.3 million ($117 million) bid.

Time Warner has however reserved the right to change it’s position if another company comes in with a higher bid.

The economic climate continues to be rough for game publishers, and one could wonder about the possible implications of Square Enix and Eidos coming together.

Tomb Raider RPG maybe?

I for one hope that’s the last time I ever utter that sentence.
