Stop the Presses! Call of Duty Makes Money!
Activision announced today that the Call of Duty franchise has passed the $3 billion mark in sales. And, that, ok maybe Moder Warfare 2 has a little something to do with it.
Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, Inc. used the power of the press release to let us know just how important Call of Duty is to all of us.
Call Of Duty has become one of the greatest entertainment franchises of all time. If you consider the number of hours our audiences are engaged in playing Call of Duty games, it is likely to be one of the most viewed of all entertainment experiences in modern history.
Modern Warfare 2 alone made $550 million in it’s first five days of sales, a little over a fifth of the $3 billion quoted above. There is no doubt that Call of Duty makes lots of money; just how much though is pretty impressive.
I myself have not gotten the chance to experience the magic that is MW2, but I hear it’s pretty rad.
