What’s Changes Were Made To The New PSP Firmware 5.02 Update ?
So I bet a lot of you people are wondering, What did Sony’s new 5.02 Firmware really do after the apparent changes to the Firmware Ver. 5.00 .
So the following are the official run down of improvements and revisions via the Playstation blog.
** When downloading content from PSN Online Store using a PSP system with an 8 GB or 16 GB Memory Stick Duo media inserted, you may see a message indicating that the media does not have enough free space. Even when there is enough space left on the memory stick. The version 5.02 update resolves that issues as well as improving the following:
** The feature for outputting video from PSP to a TV has been improved. (Including)
** You can now output video from PlayStation format software to a TV in full-screen size.
** You can now use video output cables that do not support video in progressive mode to output video from PlayStation® format software to a TV.
New Settings Option Revision
** (Title Display) Has been added as an option under
(Video Settings) .
** (USB Auto Connect) Has been added as an option under
(System Settings).
** PSP-3000 Only (Backlight Auto-Adjust) has been added as an option under
(Power Save Settings).
Music Option Improvement
** Added Sleep Timer {Great way to say your PSP battery}
Video Option Improvement
** The number of file types that can be played has been increased. (MPEG-4 AVC and AVC CABAC in 640 x 480 pixels)
Other Improvement Are
** You can now use a full-size on-screen keyboard. (See Below)
** The background of the XMB screen has been redesigned. (SEE BELOW)

– My thought’s on the new PSP Firmware Update to version 5.02 are that other then the above features. Which are in its self very good features to add to such a multi-functional device. I have this feeling that Sony moved really fast with the update from 5.00 to 5.02 to make hacking and home brewing community with older versions of the PSP (Versions PSP-1000 & PSP-2000) harder or not impossible to do. But we shall see with further Firmware updates if that is even remotely possible.
